Famo Cafe Review: Scenic Spot, But Food Is Hit-or-Miss

Famo Cafe Review: Beautiful Setting, Friendly Staff, but a Mixed Menu

There’s a certain kind of disappointment that hits harder than a “bad meal” — it’s when you really want to like a place.

You see the photos, you imagine the vibe, you picture yourself having a relaxing brunch, and you’re already mentally giving it a glowing review before you even sit down. That was us with Famo Cafe.

And to be fair, parts of the experience were genuinely enjoyable. Famo Cafe has a nice area, the atmosphere is pleasant, and the staff are friendly. It’s the kind of spot that feels like it should be a sure win, especially if you’re looking for a cute café stop while exploring nearby attractions.

But when it comes to food, our experience at Famo Cafe was honestly super hit-or-miss. Some items were solid and satisfying. Others were confusing, poorly executed, or simply not worth ordering again. And one thing worth noting—there’s a detail that may explain why the reviews online look overwhelmingly positive.

A Quick Note About the “Good Review” Dessert

Before diving into the food, let’s address something important: Famo Cafe offers a free dessert for a “good review.” That kind of incentive can influence what you see on Google and other platforms. It doesn’t mean the café is terrible. It also doesn’t mean those five-star reviews are fake. But it does mean you should read reviews with a bit more awareness.

When rewards are tied to positive ratings, the overall review score can skew higher than what a typical unbiased experience might reflect.

That said, we still had a nice time overall — mainly because of the environment and the staff — even if the food wasn’t consistently great.

The Vibe: Scenic, Relaxing, and Easy to Enjoy

Even with mixed food, I can’t deny that the setting of Famo Cafe is a big reason people visit.

It’s a visually pleasant place. It feels calm, and it’s the kind of café where you can slow down for a bit—take photos, chat, enjoy the view, and just take a break from the day.

If you’re the type who values ambiance, you’ll likely enjoy Famo Cafe on that level. The staff are also friendly and welcoming, which goes a long way in shaping a positive experience.

What We Ordered at Famo Cafe (Ratings Included)

We tried a mix of savory dishes and desserts, and our ratings reflect how each item performed in taste, texture, and overall satisfaction.

Carrot Soup – 4/5

This was one of the better items we ordered. The carrot soup was really good and peppery, with a comforting warmth that worked well as a starter. It felt properly seasoned and flavorful without being overly heavy.

If you’re looking for something safe and satisfying, the carrot soup at Famo Cafe is a good option.

Sausages – 2/5

This was a letdown. The sausage texture was weirdly smooth all throughout, almost too uniform, and it lacked flavor. The only real taste came from the sweet chili sauce served on the side—but the sausage itself didn’t bring much to the table.

We didn’t finish this one, which says a lot. If you’re choosing what to order at Famo Cafe, this is one item I’d skip.

BLT Sandwich – 4/5

The BLT sandwich was another “hit.” It was satisfying and straightforward—nothing overly fancy, but it did what it needed to do. The flavors worked, and it felt like a reliable café item.

If you want something familiar and safe, the BLT is one of the better choices at Famo Cafe based on our visit.

Spaghetti Bolognese – 4/5

This was surprisingly good. The spaghetti bolognese had great overall taste and felt well-seasoned. Our only critique was the portion—it was a bit small, and it could’ve used more beef or cheese to feel more complete.

Still, flavor-wise, it delivered. Among the savory dishes we tried, this was one of the better plates at Famo Cafe.

Chocolate Funnel/Lava Cake – 2/5

This dessert was another disappointment. The texture was really weird—not like cake at all. It felt mushy, almost like eating raw pancake batter. The “chocolate” also tasted more like sugar than real cocoa depth.

If you’re craving something chocolatey, I wouldn’t recommend ordering this at Famo Cafe.

Black Sticky Rice with Ice Cream – 2/5

This one wasn’t for us. We only took a few bites before giving up. The flavor felt strange and not sweet in the way we expected a dessert to be. It didn’t taste “dessert-like,” and it didn’t work for our palate.

To be fair, this could also be a preference issue—some people may enjoy black sticky rice desserts, especially if they’re familiar with it. But based on our experience, we wouldn’t order it again.

Overall Experience: Still Nice, But Choose Your Orders Carefully

Even though the food was inconsistent, we still had a nice time. That’s the thing with Famo Cafe—the environment is pleasant enough that it softens the disappointment from the misses.

About half of what we ordered hit the spot:

  • Carrot soup: good
  • BLT sandwich: good
  • Spaghetti bolognese: good

The misses were mostly the sausages and desserts:

  • Sausages: skip
  • Chocolate cake dessert: skip
  • Black sticky rice dessert: skip (unless you already love this kind of dessert)

Final Verdict: Worth Visiting for the Place, Not for Everything on the Menu

If you’re visiting Famo Cafe mainly for the scenic, relaxing café atmosphere, you’ll likely enjoy it—especially with friendly staff and a nice setting.

But if you’re going purely for food, it’s a mixed bag. My best advice is to order carefully and stick with the items that are more reliably satisfying.

Famo Cafe can still be a good stop, but it’s not a “blind order anything” kind of place—at least based on our experience.
